Fellow Tar Heels,

On the night of August 20, 2018, Silent Sam was removed by a group of protestors. This has become a flashpoint on campus and the members of the Undergraduate Senate would like to provide a forum for discussion on campus.

As such, the Senate has established a Select Committee to gather the thoughts of the Student Body, to merge the varying ideas of Senators, and to draft a statement that appropriately responds to the event of August 20th, regarding Silent Sam.

This committee will be holding a hearing August 27, 2018 (Monday) from 5 PM to 7 PM in Union Room 3502. We would like to encourage any interested parties to attend during the first hour to share thoughts as to what ideas a potential statement should put forth.

If you would like to submit thoughts and ideas to the Select Committee but are unable to attend the hearing, feel free to submit statements to the Speaker of the Senate at kennith_echeverria@med.unc.edu.

Hark the Sound!
