Chapel Hill, North Carolina — September 29, 2023 — The 105th Undergraduate Senate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is pleased to announce the passage of the Carolina Strong Fall 2023 Budget Act on Tuesday, September 26, demonstrating a resolute commitment to advancing student welfare and enhancing campus life. This budget is part of a $1.43 million Undergraduate Student Government spending plan for this school year.

 

The Budget Act, introduced on September 19, 2023, was the culmination of over 20 hours of hearings led by Chair Andrew Forbes and Vice-Chair Joshua Alexander, and dozens of hours of additional work performed by members of the Finance Committee and the Legislative Auditor, Andrew Wang.

 

The Undergraduate Senate allocated a total of $920,862.65 in the budget. The average organization received $3,683.45 and the median organization received $2,653. A total of 250 organizations received funding in the Fall Budgetary Cycle.

 

The Carolina Strong Fall 2023 Budget Act stands as a testament to the Undergraduate Senate’s efforts in bolstering the Carolina community. The Undergraduate Senate is proud to support the important work of the hundreds of student organizations at UNC in promoting campus life and student experiences.

 

Organizations that did not receive funds during this cycle are welcomed and encouraged to apply for up to $1,500 in funding in the Subsequent Cycle. The funding applications will be open until October 1st at 11:59 p.m. More information about this cycle can be found at senate.unc.edu/funding.
